Purpose and areas of usage
The development concerns collagen, which is widely used in medicine, biotechnology, cosmetics and food industry, which is characterized by low immunogenicity. A significant demand for this biotech product leads to a constant search for various manipulations with the raw material for collagen production.
Main characteristics, gist of development
The developed technology for the production of collagen from wastes from leather production is characterized by optimal extraction time. It means no harmful admixture, and a significant amount of the product. After extraction of non - collagen proteins, extraction of collagen with acetic acid can performed. The dynamics of collagen extraction in the main stages of extraction was investigated. The purity of the product is confirmed by the results of electrophoresis in the polyacrylamide gel. The amount of protein obtained is determined by the modified Lowry method. Proteins with a molecular weight of ≈110, 117, 120, 235 and more have been obtained. The presence of α1 (I) - monomer chains, β11 (I), β12 (I) - dimeric chains, γ (I) (various combinations) - trimeric chains has been proved. Collagen, extracted after 24 hours, is characterized by greater purity due to the smaller background of observation. The analysis of proteins in the supernatant revealed the possibility of further hydrolysis to obtain low molecular weight fragments of chains.
Development can provide fast and cheap reception of collagen. The developed technologies can be used by cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food enterprises of Ukraine for the purpose of production of high - quality competitive multipurpose collagen based products.
